Road accidents cause 16 deaths every hour. In 2014 alone, over speeding and rash driving caused over 91,000 deaths. Since 2010, each year, road accidents cause the deaths of more people than all the wars India has fought put together.
Road Rage is now increasingly becoming one of largest contributors to road accidents and road deaths in India. Even more so in New Delhi, the National Capital.
Samar Halarnkar for the Hindustan Times, says: I once spotted a family enroute to Sunday mass in a car headed against the one-way around my little park. “You’re going to Church and still breaking the law!” I shouted, shaking my head. The man leaned out and replied: “Don’t worry, I will ask for forgiveness.”
Watch as this video demonstrates why Road Rage needs to be addressed immediately...
A Ranger is anyone who doesn't indulge in acts of violence, doesn't get angry easily, doesn't cross the speed limit, who indicates well ahead of a turn, who stops when the traffic light is yellow, who is sensitive towards new drivers, who stops at the side of the road when he sees someone's hazard lights flashing and requesting help etc.
Watch how a young man chooses to grow up and not be like his father — albeit a good man in every other way — on the road.
Don't just stand there, do something! We've all been silent for too long. We're hoping all the Rangers out there will stand alongside us to #SayNoToRoadRage and help make Indian roads safer...for everyone.
For a start, immerse yourself in the #BeARanger campaign and tell us how you can help us spread the message — on Social Media, among your friends, or even with your family. No effort is too small!
