J.K. Tyre presented the
Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Award for the Year 2001
India’s leading tyre manufacturer and the 16th largest tyre
company in the world, JK Tyre has been awarded the prestigious
Rajiv
Gandhi National Quality Award 2001 for its Kankroli Tyre Plant. The
award was presented at a special ceremony presided over by
Mr.
Sharad Yadav, Hon’ble Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food
and Public Distribution and President Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
The award was received by Mr. Raghupati Singhania, Managing
Director, J.K. Industries Ltd.
Rajiv
Gandhi National Quality Award was instituted by the Bureau of Indian
Standards in 1991 with a view to encouraging Indian manufacturing and
service organizations to strive for excellence and for giving special
recognition to those who are considered to be the leaders of the quality
movement in India. The Award has been designed on lines of Malcolm
Baldridge National Quality Award in USA, Deming Prize in Japan, and
European Quality award.
J.K. Tyre owes this award to its commitment to quality. And much more

The award is an outcome of J.K. Tyre’s strong leadership,

has four modern production facilities located strategically in Northern,
Central and Southern parts of India, which have set standards of
efficiency and productivity in the tyre industry, some of which are
world benchmarks.
The quality initiatives at J.K. Tyre have greatly helped the company
outperforming the industry year after year. J.K. Tyre in a short span of
25 years has
emerged as the No.1 four wheeler tyre manufacturer in
India. The company is also
No.1 in Truck & Bus tyres with a
market share of 25.8 % and No. 1 in the LCV segment with market share of
23%. (Market share figures are for the FY 2001-02 ). Thereby making
J.K. Tyre the market leader in commercial tyres (which account
for 80% of the total Indian tyre industry).
