New Delhi: Organized by Delhi Achievers Round Table and
sponsored by JK Tyre, Delhi by Night - a car rally to raise funds for
autistic children hit the streets of South Delhi on Saturday, 22nd
January 05. Sixty cars were flagged off by the Honorable Chief Minister
of Delhi, Smt. Shiela Dikshit and Mr. Raghupati Singhania, Vice Chairman
and Managing Director JK Industries Ltd. from the Jawaharlal Nehru
Stadium at 4.30 pm, and the rally witnessed the corporate world in the
driver's seat and their navigation skills put to test to tackle
Distance, Time and Speed.
The rally finished at the Icon Valley at Vasant Kunj, with the prize
distribution and felicitation of the winners by Mr. Arun K. Bajoria,
President JK Tyre, Ajay Jadeja, Sarandeep Singh & Ashish Nehra
followed by a dinner party. Mr. Shantanu Bagrodia of car no. 11 got the
better of Mr. Ashish Ahooja to win the rally and two return tickets to
Los Angeles. Ms. Dawar and Ms. Namrata Dhir emerged victorious in the
ladies category winning one return ticket to London and one domestic
ticket to anywhere in India. Prizes were given to top three in each
category. Present on the occasion were a host of celebrities of the
likes of Vikram Singhania, Vivek Khushlani, Padam Singhee, Neeva Jain,
Sima Kilachand and other top shot industrialists from the city.
The fund raised from the event is given to an NGO called Action for
Autism, to help them in building a school and learning center for
autistic children. The site that has been approved by the Govt of Delhi
is a land behind the Apollo hospital in Jasola.
