JK
Tyre & Motorsports
JK Tyre, the flagship company of JK Industries, has always been closely
associated with the rugged, thrilling and adventurous world of
motorsports. A long term sustained approach to promote motorsports has
today enabled JK Tyre, not only to identify and patronise several
winners, but also to use their insights to carry on its R&D
activities to develop tyres, that the world can race upon!
It was about two decades ago, when JK Tyre realised that India- despite
possessing world class talent- has still not made its presence felt in
the worlds favorite sport- motorsports. And, as the cliché goes,
there was no looking back thereafter

Building
Motorsport Infrastructure
Realising the paucity of infrastructure, essential for the success of
motorsports, JK Tyre took upon itself the task of developing the requisite
infrastructure in India. Over the last five years, JK Tyre has invested
over Rs. 15 crores to support its constant endeavor towards making India
the motorsport hub of Asia.
JK Tyre has actively associated itself with various national and local
level motorsports events in the country, thus building a complete
infrastructure, right from providing ground-level opportunities to attract
budding talent to this sport and then guiding them at every stage to reach
international milestones of success.

JK Tyre has helped to institutionalise a Racing
Driving School at Chennai, under the aegis of India's best-known rally
drivers & trainers, Vicky Chandok & Akbar Ebrahim, which,
every year, conducts workshops at regular intervals to identify and train
new motorsport talent. With the requisite infrastructure and support of Team
JK Tyre's drivers, the new talents get an opportunity to learn from the
experiences of established masters of this art. JK Tyre also plans to
convert this facility into a fully-fledged Racing School.
JK Tyre is also credited with introducing the concept of Karting in
India and has patronised karting circuits in seven cities of the country. By
organising country's first National Karting Championship in 2000, JK Tyre
changed the history of motorsports in India, as this seven-city, seven-week
'biggest & most-hyped' motorsport spectacle of India made thousands
experience the frenzy of this sport. In 2001, the Championship raged 9
cities, acquiring a truly national stature and 20 year old Ameya Walvalkar
from Mumbai emerged the National Karting Champion.
JK Tyre is also planning to create a consortium of different corporates
to support further set of activities to promote this sport in India.
